Owners of 2010 Subaru Outback crossover models equipped with a CVT transmission will need to make an unscheduled visit to their Subaru dealer for recall work. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall of 29,443 Legacy and Outback models for a crack that can occur in the CVT cooler hose that could result in a fluid leak. The only vehicles affected by the recall are the ones built between July 31 and December 1, 2009.
The NHTSA website states that Subaru didn’t provide any safety consequences for this recall, but a CVT fluid leak could lead to a damaged transmission. Affected vehicles can be brought to the nearest Subaru dealer to have the hose replaced free of charge. If you’re not sure if your vehicle falls under the recall, call Subaru at 1-856-488-8500.
