Australian website Drive.com.au reports that Ford is working on a brand new 5.0L “Coyote” V8 that will replace every other V8 in Ford’s line-up.
According to a Ford Australia spokesman, Ford’s American team is working on the 32-valve aluminum DOHC 5.0L V8, codenamed “Coyote.” The V8 will have more than 400 hp and about 400 lb-ft of torque.
The smaller 5.0L V8 engine is expected to replace the 5.4L V8 in the F-150, and will serve in various sporty Ford cars, such as the Mustang and the Australian-market Falcon. It should even make it into the Expedition, assuming the big SUV doesn’t get nixed by then. The new engine should put the F-150 on better-than-level footing with the Toyota Tundra and the Chevrolet Silverado.

I can’t wait for the new 5.0 and ecoboost to hit the showroom floors. They may just sway me away from the new F250 diesel (scorpion) if they are priced reasonable.
