After a facelift for the 2009 model year, the Suzuki Grand Vitara line-up has been expanded in the United Kingdom with the addition of a 1.6L gasoline unit and a 1.9L diesel engine to the three-door model range.
The 106 hp 1.6L gasoline four-banger is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, with peak torque of 107 lb-ft at 4,100 rpm offering a 0-60 mph sprint time of 14.0 seconds and a top speed of 99 mph. The entry-level model that comes with a four-wheel-drive system as standard achieves a combined fuel economy of 34.5 mpg on the European cycle.
The second addition to the Grand Vitara 3-door lineup is the 129 hp 1.9L DDiS diesel four with maximum torque of 220 lb-ft at 2,200 rpm. The four-wheel-drive model has a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 12.3 seconds and achieves a top speed of 106 mph, while returning a 40.4 mpg combined European cycle.
For 2009, both models feature a revised front-end treatment and new door mirrors with integrated turn indicators while interior changes include a new multi-information display and revised air conditioning control panel.
The two models will not be offered in the United States.
