The South American market is getting a new Volkswagen Saveiro compact pickup, designed and built in Brazil. These are the first images of the small utility truck and the styling now seems to be following the new VW corporate look.
One flex-fuel engine size will do duty and provide two different power outputs depending on its fuel source. The 1.6L VHT (Volkswagen High Torque) petrol engine makes 101hp.
Three trim levels are available, a 1.6L (base), 1.6L Trend and 1.6L Trooper. The 1.6l is the most basic workhorse and features unpainted bumpers and very simple interior trim. Its sole purpose in life is to work. On a higher level is the Trend which comes with features like color-coded bumpers. Some may even go as far as calling it a freight car with flair. Top of the range is the Trooper model which is aimed at younger buyers.

I was just in Anapolis Brazil and these trucks were all over the place. If VW ever brings them to the US, I’m gonna be the first in line to get one. The US market really needs a truck like this!
I just saw the only vehicle I’d consider giving up my Subaru Baja for. Sweet looking ride plus a place to put dirt.
